Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis: What We Learned From TGS

More about Sega's next generation of Phantasy Star Online was revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, and New Genesis is shaping up for a significant upgrade from the current game. There are still lots of details to Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta be revealed as time goes one, but some major things like combat and the world are much clearer. Hiro Arai out of Sega was live for almost an hour to show footage off of gameplay and talk about what new things are on the road. Not much was mentioned about the current game and the update coming alongside NG's release other than the graphic upgrade, which is looking fantastic.

Maps are no more split into areas with loading screens. NG will have a completely open world from the home base to the area. The TGS footage showed a gorgeous new world that's a significant upgrade from the current game. Arai mentions that distinct areas can be attained seamlessly simply by traversing the world. It looks like this is the world Naberious in the present game, with forests being adjacent to tundra and other areas. Areas continue to be technically divided up, but there is no loading between them. While it hasn't been directly mentioned, an open world such as this implies there might not be single party areas. Most shown in the footage were multi-party regions where there were other players. The cover for multi-party areas has been lowered to eight down from twelve in the current PSO2, but who you see will differ from area to area.

Weather is creating a much better comeback as it affects dynamically and may impact the battlefield, even though the magnitude of the impact was not spoken of. Time will also change, and footage showed several nice touches like fireflies in the woods at night. There is no word on fast travel, vehicles or mounts nevertheless, but Sega has implemented some new methods for players to move quickly across this new world. Players will be able to run faster following a dodge both in and outside of battle. A blue series follows underfoot, so you'll know you are doing it right when you see it.

The other important addition to motion shown off in the initial NG trailer is that the glide. It goes as far as a few of the screenshots have made it seem. Players can get to high ground and leap off to glide and get pretty damn much across the map. Like in Breath of the Wild, you'll have the ability to make you are way up a mountain to glide off from but without anything inhibiting you enjoy stamina. It'll also make for some dramatic entrances in to conflict. Sega already stated that gathering and crafting would be getting an overhaul, and while we didn't have a peek at crafting, we did see how much nicer it is to snag items in the specialty. Gathering can be performed on the fly, very similar to can you buy meseta on pso2 Dragon Hunter: World. Get close to an item, and tap a button. Fruit can be harvested in trees, you will find new docile creatures that may be hunted for meat and other things and healing items can be found through the land as green luminous indicators called Resta Signs. It's much more intuitive than the current game.
